Carpentry Level 2

Overview

This specialized course is designed to produce certified skilled artisans for the residential and commercial construction industry. The programme combines theory and practical activities.

Objectives

• Carpentry related Occupational and Health and Safety (OHS)
• Fix linings and panelings
• Draw and interpret diagrams
• Erect and dismantle formwork
• Carry out excavation
• Carry out general demolition
• Use hand and power tools
• Finishing eaves
• Erect timber roof
• Carry out basic setting out
• Install sub-floor framing

Matriculation Requirement

NVQ-J Level 1 – Carpentry or General Construction or successful completion of the HEART NSTA Trust Diagnostic Test or at least one (1) CSEC or GCE subject

Qualification Gained

• NVQ-J Level 2 Certificate. The NVQ-J Certification is recognized in all CARICOM and Commonwealth countries.
