Air Conditioning And Refrigeration (Ac) Level 2

Overview

This competency-based course prepares trainees in the core skills for entry-level positions in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. Instruction covers procedures and techniques of basic refrigeration in domestic, commercial and industrial air conditioning and cooling, including installation, basic servicing, troubleshooting, motor wiring, circuit wiring, diagram reading, brazing, soldering and flaring of copper tubes.

  • Procurement related to Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Introduction to activity planning
  • Perform brazing and silver soldering
  • Install and maintain piping and tubing
  • Install valves regulators and metering devices
  • Recover, evacuate test, charge and dehydrate air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Maintain and repair commercial and / or industrial refrigeration and/or air conditioning controls
  • Oxy-Acetylene Welding (OAW) welding
  • Basic electrical wiring installation

Entry Requirement

NVQ-J Level 1 – Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or successful completion of the HEART NSTA Trust Diagnostic Test or at least one (1) CSEC or GCE subject

Qualification Gained

NVQ-J Level 2 Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. The NVQ-J Certification is recognized in all CARICOM and Commonwealth countries.

Air Conditioning And Refrigeration (Ac) Level 3

Duration: eight (8) months

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute

Overview

This programme is designed to produce supervisors in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry. The programme combines various techniques associated with Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to diagnose, maintain and repair refrigeration systems at international standard.

This competency-based course prepares trainees in the core skills for entry-level positions in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry. Instruction is provided in various procedures and techniques of basic refrigeration in domestic, commercial and industrial air conditioning and cooling. It entails Installation, basic servicing, troubleshooting, motor wiring, circuit wiring, diagram reading, brazing, soldering and flaring of copper tubes.

  • Resolve problems in hydronic systems
  • Resolve problems in transport refrigeration systems
  • Service and repair self- contained hydrocarbon air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Advanced report writing

Entry Requirement

NVQ-J Level 2 Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Qualification Gained

  • Having successfully completed the programme, participants will be awarded an NVQ-J Level 3 Diploma in Air Conditioning And Refrigeration.
