Workforce Entry Training (WET)

Duration: four (4) weeks

Location: Up Park Camp

Overview

This aspect of the JNSC programme refines essential skills that participants will need to prepare effectively to be part of the workforce, and operate in a work environment. These are inclusive of: Writing a resume; Applying interview etiquette and techniques; Making use of basic financial services and investments; displaying entrepreneurship; developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills and techniques; exhibiting conflict resolution techniques; demonstrating negotiation skills; managing stress in the workplace; managing relationships; exhibiting dining etiquette; and Managing time.

Entry Requirements

The following personnel are eligible for the WET programme:

  • A JNSC participant that has been unsuccessful upon completion of past phases
  • A JNSC participant that has been successful but chooses to cease employment within the JDF
  • A JNSC participant that, due to injuries, cannot continue training/ employment within the JDF

Qualification Gained

  • Certificate; Upon completion of the WET programme, government agencies such as Customs and Excise, Immigration, Prisons, Jamaica Constabulary, Port Security, etc will be given the opportunity to select potential candidates from the pool of individuals.
