Major Stacy-Ann N CHRISTIAN, JD, MPH, DrPH

Major Christian joined the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) as Research and Development Manager at the Caribbean Military Academy (CMA). Prior to her tenure within the CMA, Major Christian worked at Northeastern University as the Associate Vice Provost of Research. Major Christian has also worked at New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) as Senior Director of Research Administration, where she was responsible for establishing policies and procedures and providing oversight for all clinical and health services research conducted throughout New York City. She created a research education and training program to support both the clinical and administrative staff and the diverse community served by the safety net hospital system. Prior to her tenure at HHC, Major Christian worked with Eisai Medical Research as a manager in their Research Grants and Contracts Division

She has taught at Northeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, Walden University as well as The University of the West Indies within the areas of Global Health, Health Policy, Health Law and Planning, FDA Law, Human Resource in Health Care Organizations as well as Research and BioEthics. Major Christian has conducted research in chronic disease management, evaluation and monitoring across Jamaica with a special focus on implementation science. Her research includes health-related issues in the older Caribbean population, healthy ageing, health law, and policy.

Within the region, Major Christian has founded a charitable organization focused on working with churches in creating support programmes for the elderly including the creation of a music programme for seniors; evaluating nursing homes across Jamaica; and providing retirement consultations to persons seeking to retire in Jamaica. She has also taught ESL and citizenship courses in the U.S and in other countries as a volunteer. In addition, she has worked with groups such as the Children’s Aid Society of New York and the Medicare Rights Center.

Major Christian received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law, Master of Public Health and Doctorate in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, and most recently successfully completed her coursework for her Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley School of Law.
