JOB CERTIFICATION COURSES

Overview

CMTTI job certification courses are designed to teach specialty skills in priority areas in a short period of time. Current offerings include masonry, drywall, carpentry, tiling, electrical wiring and welding. Successful completion of each course leads to an NCTVET Certificate of Competence, which is valid for general employment beyond the JDF.


Mason (Job Certification)

Duration: three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute & CMTTI (Flanker)

Overview

This course introduces basic masonry skills that allow practitioners to operate effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision.

Objectives

  • Apply solid render
  • Carry out concrete work
  • Place concrete
  • Cure concrete work
  • Rough casting and rendering flat surfaces

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competence - Mason.


Dry Wall Installer (Job Certification)

Duration: three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute

Overview

The aim of this programme is to introduce the different units that will allow the individuals to install timber wall frames, track and stud frames and clad these walls using gypsum boards and apply plaster in order to achieve the best finishes.

Objectives

  • Install door and window frames
  • Prepare for dry wall plastering
  • Assemble simple partition frames
  • Prepare surfaces
  • Install framed ceiling

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competence – Dry Wall Installer.


Carpenter (Job Certification)


Duration: three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute

Overview

The aim of this course is to introduce the different units that will allow the individuals to install timber wall frames and clad these walls using ply wood, tongue and groove boards and other cladding materials.

Objectives

  • Install door and window hardware
  • Prepare for timber wall construction
  • Assemble simple partition frames
  • Istall framed ceiling
  • Install door and window frames

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competence – Carpenter.



Tiler (Job Certification)

Duration:three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute & CMTTI (Flanker)

Overview

The aim of this course is to certify individuals with the requisite knowledge and skills in the laying of wall and floor tiles.

Objectives

  • Lay floor tiles
  • Lay wall tiles
  • Carry out levelling
  • Repair wall and floor tiles

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competence – Tiler.


Electrical Wiring Installation (Job Certification)

Duration: three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute

Overview

The aim of this programme is to prepare trainees with the basic core skills in the electrical installation industry. Trainees begin with the basic fundamentals of career preparations standard in problem solving, work place safety and electrical wire termination and to certify skilled workers in the field such as utility companies, electrical Construction and Maintenance Companies.

Objectives

  • Electrical Installation related Occupational and Health and Safety (OHS)
  • Operation and use of tools and equipment related to the electrical trade
  • Install and terminate electrical wiring, flexible cables and specialist cables
  • Installation of wiring

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competence – Electrical Wiring Installation.


Welding Technician (Job Certification)

Duration: three months for apprentices and three weeks for applicants with one year of experience and the requisite knowledge in a related field.

Location: Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute

Overview

This programme is designed to certify experience workers who are working in the field without the requisite certification. Also, it caters to persons who are apprentice and requires certification as a Welding Technician.

Objectives

  • Occupational health and safety related to welding and fabrication
  • Operation and use of tools and equipment related to welding and fabrication
  • Material classification and preparation
  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding
  • Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) welding

Qualification Gained
  • NCTVET Certificate of Competency – Welding Technician.
